FILTER - predict filtration performance

The vast majority of wines today are bottled through a filter, and many wines are prepared for that bottling similarly, by traditional, perpendicular-flow filtrations. Yet only a handful of wineries have a tool to assess a filtration's tendency to foul. Wines are thrown at full-scale filtrations based solely on what has succeeded in past seasons. It is akin to adding SO2 based on a prescribed series of additions without regard for the wine's chemistry. We are overdue for a change.

With FILTER a winery can quickly predict whether a bottling filtration will be successful, and with just a little thought each step in the finishing of a wine can be assessed. In most cases the use of FILTER will identify steps that can be eliminated, saving wine losses and cellar hours, very quickly paying for itself while treating wines more gently.
